About FishBaseFISHBASE Fish Information SystemFishbase is a worldwide fish information system for various specialists such as researchers, zoologists, ecologists, teachers, fisheries managers, etc. Fishbase is linked to other related databases, such as the Catalog of Fishes, GenBank and LarvalBase, as well as to a partner journal, Acta Ichthyologica and Piscatoria. Fishbase was developed by the International Centre for Living Aquatic Resources Management (ICLARM) in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and other partners. Since 2000, FishBase has been run by the FishBase Consortium, comprising 10 institutions, of which the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle, MNHN (Paris, France) is a founding member. |
